Research to Prevent Blindness Supports Moran With $575,000 Grant

Research to Prevent Blindness (RPB) has awarded the John A. Moran Eye Center at the University of Utah an unrestricted grant in the amount of $115,000 a year for five years to support eye research.

Moran now holds one of 37 RPB unrestricted grants nationwide, and funds can be used at the discretion of CEO Randall J Olson.

RPB made the award based on a thorough review of criteria, including Moran's research activities, laboratory environment, and clinical and scientific staff as evaluated by RPB's Scientific Advisory Panel. Moran researchers are making groundbreaking discoveries that stand to revolutionize the treatment of eye diseases including age-related macular degeneration and glaucoma.

Since it was founded in 1960, RPB has channeled more than $355 million into eye research and has been associated with nearly every major breakthrough in vision research since then.
