  • Joy English, MD, is a board-certified Emergency Medicine, Sports Medicine, and Lifestyle Medicine physician. She is a member of the Sports Medicine Division within the Department of Orthopaedics, Medical Director of the Orthopaedic Injury Clinic, and Chairperson of the Lifestyle Medicine Consult service at the University of Utah. Dr. English serves as the head team physician for the Real Monarchs, University of Utah Women’s Indoor Volleyball, Beach Volleyball, and Men’s and Women’s Hockey teams and is a medical provider for U.S. Speedskating. She is also a core educator in the School of Medicine and serves as the domain expert for musculoskeletal medicine and as a course director in the preclinical medical school curriculum.

    Dr. English enjoys providing care for patients with a variety of musculoskeletal conditions and is passionate about empowering her patients in their health-promotion journey. In her lifestyle medicine clinics, Dr. English provides comprehensive one-on-one counseling on evidence-based lifestyle interventions in the areas of exercise, nutrition, sleep, and stress management that can be used in the prevention, treatment, and even reversal of chronic medical conditions.
