About the Ovarian ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ and Lifestyle Study

The Ovarian ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ and Lifestyle Study looks at characteristics of women with ovarian cancer and other gynecologic conditions. The purpose of the study is to learn what can be done to improve patient health after being diagnosed with ovarian cancer.

Learning how to improve the lives of survivors takes time and volunteers are a vital part of the process. Women who take part in this study can make a difference for future cancer patients.

Who can participate in the study?

Anyone meeting these criteria may take part:

  • Between 21 and 89 years old
  • Diagnosed with the following:
    • Epithelial ovarian cancer (or borderline tumors)
    • Primary peritoneal cancer
    • Fallopian tube cancer
  • U.S. resident
  • Received care or consultation at Huntsman Cancer Institute and/or University of Utah ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½

Pregnant women at the time of diagnosis, prisoners, and patients unable to provide informed consent will not be included in this study.

If I participate, what will I do?

We ask you to complete questionnaires about your health, including symptoms, well-being, diet, and supplement use.

  • You can fill out questionnaires in clinic on our study iPad or at home. Most questionnaires are available on paper, online, or by telephone. We provide prepaid envelopes to return paper questionnaires.
  • Our clinical research coordinator can answer questions while you fill out the questionnaires in clinic. If you fill out the form at home and have questions, you may contact the coordinator by email or telephone.
  • You complete questionnaires at the beginning of the study and after 3 months, 6 months, 1 year, and 2 years. Participants who have clinic visits near these timepoints and are having their blood drawn will be invited to also provide a blood sample.
