Check Out Materials for Free

The G. Mitchell Morris Cancer Learning Center (CLC) is a free resource for cancer information. Anyone may visit our library to get free brochures or to check out books, DVDs, CDs and other materials.

If you are a Huntsman Cancer Institute patient, we can deliver requested materials to your next clinic appointment, while you are receiving chemotherapy, or during a hospital stay.

Get Information by Mail

If you are unable to pick up materials from our library in person, we will be happy to mail them to you, free of charge. Thanks to a generous donation from the Rocky Mountain Power Foundation we can mail these materials (two at a time) directly to patrons who live outside Salt Lake Valley. This includes a postage-paid mailer to return the items.

To join this program or for more information, please call 801-581-6365 or toll free 1-888-424-2100. You may also submit a patron application online.

Naloxone Rescue Kits

Naloxone rescue kits provide an emergency dose of medicine to reverse an overdose due to an opiate/opioid. Kits are small and easy to use.

Pick up a free naloxone rescue kit at the library circulation desk. Cancer information specialists can teach you when and how to use the kit.

Frequently Asked Questions

I am about to receive chemotherapy, and I am worried about side effects. What type of information can the CLC provide?

The CLC staff can provide information about managing side effects of cancer and its treatments. Let our knowledgeable information specialists help.

I can't make it to the CLC. Can I have information delivered to me?

Yes. We can send information to you in the mail or deliver it to you during your appointments at Huntsman Cancer Institute. You can return information through the mail or at the CLC.

Can I use the CLC if I am not a patient of Huntsman Cancer Institute?

Yes. The CLC is free and open to the public. Plenty of community members, patients of other centers, caregivers, students, and staff use our services. We have served individuals throughout the state of Utah, every state in the United States, and several countries across the world.

I don’t really know where to start. Can you help me figure this all out?

We are happy to help you find the information you need. Our staff guide you through some important first steps and questions you might want to ask at your appointments. Many people face barriers in health care because of their race, gender, financial means, language, age, disability, familiarity with the health care system, and a variety of other factors or combinations of factors. We are here to empower you to navigate the system so you can fully participate in decisions about your health. If you have concerns about using our services, have questions about accessibility, or need certain accommodations to use our online or in-person services, please reach out to us. We are eager to help you be heard, seen and affirmed. We can’t guarantee that we will find the perfect resource for you, but we promise to serve you with empathy and respect.
