Huntsman Cancer Institute at the (the U) appointed , as co-leader of the . The program concentrates on cellular mechanisms of cancer biology and how healthy cells transform into cancer.
“I am thrilled Dr. Buckley has accepted this position,” says , chief scientific officer and executive director of the comprehensive cancer center at Huntsman Cancer Institute at the U. “Dr. Buckley’s valuable expertise in hematologic malignancies and contributions as a leader will undoubtedly enhance the research endeavors of Huntsman Cancer Institute’s Comprehensive Cancer Center. I am excited about the valuable scientific insights and leadership she will bring to Huntsman Cancer Institute’s mission.”
Buckley joined Huntsman Cancer Institute in 2022 and is an associate professor in the division of hematology and hematopoietic malignancies at the U. She earned her PhD from the University of Minnesota and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the New York University School of Medicine. Buckley’s research focuses on leukemia and lymphoma, types of blood cancers.
“I am excited for this new opportunity to serve as co-leader,” says Buckley. “I look forward to continuing to help support Huntsman Cancer Institute initiatives, collaboration between scientists and clinicians, and working toward a future free from cancer.”
