University of Utah Hospital Receives 2018 ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½Insight Quality Award

Salt Lake City — University of Utah Hospital is one of ten Utah hospitals being recognized for their high performance on quality-of-care outcome measures and patient satisfaction. The ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½Insight Quality Award Program recognizes high-performing health care provider organizations in the states for which ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½Insight serves as the Medicare program's Quality Innovation Network-Quality Improvement Organization (QIN-QIO) contractor.

Eligibility for the Hospital Quality Award is based on a composite ranking of performance on quality measures reported on Medicare's Hospital Compare website. Hospitals that rank in the top 25th percentile for the composite score are eligible for a 2018 Quality Award. To see a full description of how the composite score is calculated visit our page.

"We at ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½Insight are excited to recognize the performance of these hospitals," said Juliana Preston, ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½Insight Utah executive director. "They are a mix of large and small, urban and rural. The awards celebrate the commitment of hospital leaders and staff to improving patient safety, patient experience and quality of care. This achievement requires dedication to quality and constant concern for the people cared for in these hospitals."

The ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½Insight Quality Award Program was launched in September 2004 to promote transparency in health care. As defined by the Institute of Medicine, a transparent health care system is "accountable to the public, works openly, makes results known, and builds trust through disclosure." By using available quality data to identify high-performing providers and publicizing the results, ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½Insight aims to help providers improve health care and help patients become more active and informed participants in their own care.
