Maia Hightower, M.D., has been recognized by ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ Data Management as one of the most powerful women in ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½care IT in 2019. Hightower is the chief medical information officer (CMIO) at University of Utah ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½. She was formerly the CMIO at University of Iowa ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ Care.
In her position, Hightower has led electronic medical record (EMR) upgrades and the development of a physician informatics officer team, which provides peer support to clinicians to increase EMR proficiency and adoption. Hightower has a strong clinical perspective on the use of healthcare data, specifically in its ability and influence to manage patient and population health information.
"It is an honor to be among a list of some really phenomenal women leaders in healthcare IT," said Hightower.
