Kristen Carroll Awarded Endowed Chair in Pediatric Orthopaedics

Kristen L. Carroll M.D. was awarded the Sherman S. Coleman, M.D. Presidential Endowed Chair in Pediatric Orthopaedics in the at the University of Utah. An endowed chair is a recognition of academic distinction and excellence, and provides the means to attract, retain, and honor distinguished faculty members.

Carroll is a professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and is also chief of staff and a pediatric orthopedic surgeon at the . She specializes in the areas of pediatric hip and foot abnormalities, both congenital and neuromuscular in origin. Her research interests include neuromuscular and complex hip disorders, skeletal dysplasias and complex foot and ankle deformities.

Carroll graduated with a medical degree from Albany Medical College and completed her orthopedic residency and pediatric fellowship in pediatric orthopedics at Primary Children's Hospital and Shriners Hospitals for Children. For more than 20 years, Carroll has been caring for children with neuromuscular diseases and developmental dysplasia of the hip at Shriners Hospital for Children.
