After breaking ground in October of 2017, University of Utah ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ celebrated the grand opening of its Sugar House ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ Center with a special ribbon cutting event/community gathering. A wealth of primary and specialty services covering everything from pediatrics to internal and family medicine to geriatrics are now available at Sugar House. The new center is also home to urgent care facilities, as well as infusion, oncology, and radiation oncology providers from the Huntsman Cancer Institute.
The facility boasts five floors and more than 170,000 square feet of care space that greatly expands University of Utah ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ services above what was previously available in the old Sugar House ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ Center. Now patients in the Sugar House community and surrounding areas can find more of what they need close to home instead of braving the traffic to get up to University Hospital. In order to help simplify patients' visits, ample parking, as well as childcare services is available. In addition to excellent patient care, education, and research, a core part of the mission at U of U ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ is engaging the communities we serve, and with the opening of the Sugar House ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ Center, U of U ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ has 12 community health care centers embedded in neighborhoods across the Wasatch Front.
"University of Utah ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ has a vested interest in making our communities safe, vibrant, healthy, and stable," said Michael Good, MD senior vice president for ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ Sciences, CEO of University of Utah ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ and dean of the School of Medicine. "Serving our communities is fundamental to our mission, and the new Sugar House ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ Center makes it possible for patients to be seen how, and when, they want to be seen."
"Facilities like this make it possible for us to have a greater impact on our patient's lives and on the lives of the community," added Bernadette Kiraly, MD, primary care medical director for the Sugar House ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ Center.
