Erica Bisson, MD, MPH, appointed Vice Dean for Clinical Affairs for Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine

Erica Bisson, MD, MPH, has been appointed Vice Dean for Clinical Affairs for the Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine (SFESOM) at the University of Utah, effective immediately. This newly created role falls under the supervision of the SFESOM Dean and CEO of the University of Utah Medical Group.

As Vice Dean for Clinical Affairs, Dr. Bisson will be responsible for operationalizing the vision and strategic plan of University of Utah ǿմý, as it relates to the faculty practice. In this role, she will support the delivery of high-quality health care by University of Utah ǿմý faculty and providers through the development of partnerships and interdisciplinary collaborations to strengthen the clinical practice of the faculty at the University of Utah.

Erica Bisson, MD, MPH, has been appointed Vice Dean for Clinical Affairs for the Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine at the University of Utah.

Bisson serves as Professor of Neurosurgery and Adjunct Professor of Orthopaedics at the University of Utah. She also serves as Executive Medical Officer of University of Utah Medical Group. Since joining the faculty of University of Utah in 2009, Bisson has held various administrative roles, including Medical Director of the Neurosurgery Clinic, Ambulatory Chief Value Officer, Vice Chair of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, and President of the University’s Medical Board.

Bisson received her medical degree from Tufts University, with subsequent training, fellowship, and education at University of Vermont College of Medicine, University of Utah, and Drexel University. Bisson’s clinical career encompasses treating patients with the breadth of spinal disease, where she specializes in complex spine surgery with a focus on cervical disease, utilizing both novel artificial disc and fusion technology. She serves in several scientific leadership and advocacy roles locally and nationally, and her efforts have distinguished her as a leader in defining quality spine care.
