Average Cost of Laser Hair Removal
Generally the cost for this service will come out of your own pocket. However, we will provide you with receipts to send to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. If your medical plan has a benefit for laser hair removal as part of your gender affirming surgery, we will submit a prior authorization to verify benefit coverage.
We always recommend calling your insurance directly to determine benefit coverage.
Electrolysis vs. Laser Hair Removal
Electrolysis is an electrical current that will treat any hair color. However, laser hair removal uses a laser light that is only attracted to the dark pigment in the hair follicle — this is why it will only be effective on dark hair. Our team can provide you with community referrals for electrolysis services as needed.

Laser Hair Removal Procedure
What to Expect at Your Initial Consultation
We will have a conversation about your candidacy for laser hair reduction and the number of treatments necessary for optimal results. We will also discuss the risks and expected results. We may give you a referral for electrolysis if needed or desired.
Day of Your Appointment
Before your appointment, you will need to shave the area of hair removal. You will need to do this for every new session of laser hair removal. This is the case for every new session of laser hair removal. We will use the Gentle Max Pro laser, which safely treats both light and darker skin types. If you’d like, we do have a topical numbing cream available upon request that we can use before we begin the session. Each session will range between 30-90 minutes depending on the area of treatment.
How Many Laser Hair Removal Treatments Does It Take to Permanently Remove Hair?
The amount of laser hair removal treatments is different for everyone depending on their hair removal goals. However, most patients typically achieve their desired results after six to 12 sessions. Each session is generally scheduled five weeks apart. For those individuals seeking bottom surgery, we recommend completing at least six sessions of laser hair reduction and between one to two electrolysis sessions prior to your surgery date.
It is important to stay consistent with your follow-up appointments to complete your treatment plan. If you remain consistent with your treatments, you can achieve at least 70 percent permanent hair reduction or more.
Laser Hair Removal Side Effects
Your skin may look red or feel a little warm like a mild sun burn. This reaction should go away after 30-60 minutes. We will put aloe vera or ice packs on your skin afterwards to soothe any remaining warmness on the skin. Once the redness and inflammation disappear, you will exfoliate the treated areas with a loofa to help remove the treated hair.
