To get started with U of U ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ Volunteer Services, start by exploring the various programs and their requirements on the previous page. If you find a program that aligns with your interests and skills, keep an eye out for the application link on the Volunteer page, and apply when it's open.
Q: What is the time commitment?
Because of the cost of onboarding a new volunteer, we ask each volunteer to serve a minimum of 100 hours (shifts vary by program and job duty). Generally volunteers come in for one 4-hour shift per week until they reach 100 hours.
Q: What is the age requirement?
Volunteers must be 18 or older for our regular volunteer opportunities.
Q: What shifts are available?
Shift schedules depend on the area you would like to volunteer. U of U ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ is a 365 day a year, 7 day a week, 24 hour a day facility. We will do our best to help you find something to fit your needs and/or interests.
Q: What are the requirements to volunteer with University of Utah ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½?
To ensure our patients’ and our volunteers’ safety, we require the following to be completed before you volunteer: volunteer application, background check, immunizations, and TB testing. For all requirements please refer to the Volunteer page.
Q: Can I use my medical training to treat patients as a volunteer?
No. Volunteers are not allowed to provide any clinical care to patients.
Q: Do you offer opportunities for court-ordered service?
No. We do not provide opportunities for court-ordered service.
Q: Are public transportation passes available for volunteers?
We do not provide transportation passes at this time.
