Thrombosis Service

What Is Thrombosis?

Thrombosis is when the body forms a blood clot inside a blood vessel. A blood clot in a blood vessel is also called a thrombus. A thrombus can stop blood flow to parts of your body. Depending on the size and location of the clot, blood clots can cause serious health problems. There are many different kinds of blood clots, but also many different ways to prevent and treat them.

Thrombosis Service

The Thrombosis Service is a group of health professionals – including doctors, pharmacists, nurses, advanced pharmacy technicians, and support staff – who specialize in blood-clotting problems. We work to provide the best possible care and education to patients with, or at risk, for blood clots. In doing this, we assist University of Utah ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ providers with consultation and referral services for prevention and treatment of blood clots.
